About Swing For Their Kids

Swing For Their Kids brings our community together with one purpose: to support the children of Nevada law enforcement officers who gave their lives in the line of duty. Through our annual golf tournament and the generosity of those who stand with us, we provide meaningful holiday support while honoring the legacy of the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice.

WHY WE STARTED

Officers Alyn Beck and Igor Soldo of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty on June 8, 2014. Their courage, dedication, and unwavering commitment to protecting our community became the inspiration behind the very first Swing For Their Kids golf tournament.

Our inaugural tournament was created in their honor, and our first holiday gift delivery was made to support their children. Their legacy continues to inspire our mission each year as we stand beside the families of Nevada's fallen law enforcement officers, ensuring they are remembered with compassion, gratitude, and support during the holiday season.

A Promise Made

Following the tragic loss of Officers Alyn Beck and Igor Soldo, our founder made a promise to Alyn Beck's widow that he would return the following Christmas to support her family. That simple promise, rooted in compassion and a commitment to never let these families feel forgotten, has been kept every Christmas since. Alongside a dedicated team of volunteer Santas, he continues to deliver holiday gifts and support to the children of Nevada's fallen law enforcement officers.

Founder Paul Maxwell presented Nicole Beck with the Santa mask worn during the first Christmas gift delivery to the children of Nevada’s fallen officers. The mask represents a promise: Santa will return every year, ensuring these children and families are never forgotten.

Why We are Important

For families of fallen first responders, the holiday season can be one of the most difficult times of the year. The first Christmas after a line-of-duty death is often filled with grief, uncertainty, and the overwhelming challenge of creating a sense of normalcy for their children.

Swing For Their Kids helps ease that burden by providing Christmas gifts for the children of Nevada's fallen first responders. By removing the financial and emotional stress of holiday shopping, we allow surviving parents and caregivers to focus on what matters most: being together, honoring the memory of their loved one, and creating moments of joy during an incredibly difficult season.

A Promise Kept

Our commitment to the families we serve doesn’t end when a child reaches a certain age. Families remain in the Swings for Their Kids program until the youngest child turns 18.

As older siblings reach adulthood, they receive a $1,000 Santa Check as a special gift to help them take their next step into adulthood. This allows us to continue supporting the entire family while recognizing each child as they reach this important milestone.

Our goal is simple: to stand beside these families for the long journey, not just for one Christmas. We want every child to know that they are remembered, supported, and part of the Swings for Their Kids family as they grow.
